The database research group of Tsinghua University was formed in the early of 1980's by Prof. Deyuan Yang, Prof. Weidu Jiang and Prof. Lizhu Zhou. The group is one of the earliest database research teams in China. The current members of the group include Prof. Lizhu Zhou, Prof. Jianhua Feng, Prof. Jianyong Wang, and Prof. Ling Feng.

In the past years, the group has completed over 20 projects funded by important national research programs of China and produced nearly 100 graduate students.  Some of them are now playing key roles in the academic area and software industry.

The current research areas of the group are XML databases, data mining, Web data management, and digital resources management.
